    Discussion - Goblin drill needs a rework.

    Hey. If you have a different opinion, that's fine - I'm just looking for more opinions on this.

    Here's my main reason why drill needs a rework. The meta is shaped around it. Don't get me wrong, I'm not saying that a changing meta isn't a good thing. Yet, the drill's been a meta-defining card since its release, requiring specific responses to completely prevent damage to the crown towers. Notice how these responses are all now meta cards - bomber has a 21% usage rate, valk 20%, DP 27%.

    This is unhealthy for the game because it creates a meta that is centered around one card. Not only does it force players to incorporate these specific cards into their decks to counter the meta, which is, a lot of the time, infeasible because of the game's levelling system, but it also makes the meta more RPS in which players unlucky enough to get into a matchup without the counters to drill can't do anything against it.

    Some might argue that there are other combos that take down the drill - for instance - the knight and log. There are two reasons why this argument isn't valid IMO. The first is cycle - sometimes, you just don't have the right cycle to deal with the drill, and drill decks are often paired with other elements like logbait to force out the log/other spells that work well against the drill (e.g. barb barrel). The second is that many of these combos are easily countered by spells - for instance, a skeleton army can be zapped, a knight/valk can be snowballed or fireballed off, archers can be arrowed.

    The majority of cards that many claim to counter drill can be countered by spells, and drill players take advantage of this fact. In the popular 2.8 drill cycle deck, fireball is used along with drill to fireball any units placed to counter the drill, as the drill is a card that cannot be ignored. In the mega knight bandit deck, arrows are used along with drill to kill squishies. In the #7 deck in the game - according to royaleapi - nado is used along with drill to almost guarantee damage. And if that weren't enough, any card you drop on the drill can be marcher nadoed.

    I'm not the only one looking for a rework - many top players share this sentiment. Here are a few of the many examples:
