I use my limited understanding of Science to figure out the realistic implications of cards. Part 6: Spell Valley

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 01:05 PM PST

Clash Royale is a cartoony, unrealistic fast-paced battle game where pigs wearing knight helmets do battle against hot-air-balloon piloting skeletons. It's not realistic in the slightest, and I aim to remedy that. I'm no scientist, but I'm armed with Bill Nye, Wikipedia, and a Google search which confirms that nobody's done something like this before. All that said, let's get started.

Before we start, a wild boar averages about 150 centimetres in length at adulthood. The Hog Rider has a length of about 2 tiles in game, meaning each tile is 75 centimetres in length and width.

Fire Spirits: They shouldn't be able to move. With the assumption that, for some reason, they can, things get more interesting. The Fire Spirit appears to be a ball of coal engulfed in flames. Unregulated coal fires can produce gases that raise the nearby temperature to 2500 degrees Celsius. The Fire Spirits are literally able to disintegrate the bones of troops several tiles away. They don't even need to do the jump: Just standing near the arena tower can set fire to the wood and melt any steel beams, which have a melting point of 1510 degrees Celsius. The inverse square law of thermal radiation dictates that a troop has to be 7 metres (or 9.3 tiles) away to avoid mortal danger. The gases are also toxic, but anyone close enough to breathe them is already a melting blob.

Bats: Bats... are actually exceedingly weak and useless. The only situation in which they pose a risk is if they have rabies, in which case no immediate damage is done. Non-rabid bats will generally fly harmlessly away.

Furnace: The Furnace burns down when placed due to the massive coal fire in there.

Wizard: The Wizard will incur third or fourth degree burns upon attacking. To compensate, his attacks are exceptionally lethal: A burning ball of thermite stays aflame for a long time, and burns so hot that it stays on fire when dropped into a river, as demonstrated in a video I saw.

Tornado: This spell, realistically, lasts anywhere from several seconds to over 10 minutes. It would be quite common, though not consistent, for a Tornado to be in play for the entire match. It would move extremely quickly, often leaving the Arena entirely within seconds. Though, for the few seconds where it's in the arena, it would uproot some or all of the arena towers, suck up many troops and buildings, and wreck the floor.

Poison: While the bottle may appear reddish-orange, the cloud around it is brownish, and its in-game appearance is closer to yellow. This is indicative of sulfur mustard gas, which ranges from yellow to brown in colour, and settles near the floor, just as the Poison spell does. The primary symptom of mustard gas is severe blistering, which extends to the lungs if inhaled, leading to bronchitis and death. Using Poison (mustard gas) on the enemy troops causes them to have intense coughing fits and lung fluid buildup. Mustard gas can and will cause serious chemical burns, and inhaling 1.5 litres of it will kill you. Troops exposed to mustard gas will be immediately blinded, with intense eye pain.

Night Witch: Her only utility is as a subpar physical attacker, as the bats she spawns are utterly useless. In fact, since they're magically conjured into existence, they haven't even had the chance to contract rabies yet.

Magic Archer: His attack is exceptionally lethal. His arrow, whose properties are not explicitly explained, is shown to go through many enemies. Like the Yaka Arrow from Guardians of the Galaxy, it mortally impales anything in its path. Combined with his excellent range and quick attack speed, he wrecks anything and everything, even buildings. His near-instant reload is justified by the fact that he's conjuring the arrows as he fights.

Well, that's it here. It seems like the game's lethality really picks up in Spell Valley. Feel free to make corrections, I'd be glad to learn more.

I use my limited understanding of Science to figure out the realistic implications of cards. Part 5: PEKKA's Playhouse

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 07:03 AM PST

Clash Royale is a cartoony, unrealistic fast-paced battle game where drunk men with hatchets do battle against pink liquid monster men.

Minion Horde: The Horde suffers from the same problems that the base Minions do. The petroleum that they use for attacking is all over their arms, causing dry skin, irritation, and burns. They, like regular Minions, should also be unable to hover in place.

Zap: The Zap appears to be a vague depiction of a single lightning bolt. The surge of electricity stops the heart of the Zap's victims, killing them instantly.

Inferno Tower: It appears that the Inferno Tower uses a magnifying glass to burn enemies. The Inferno Tower can cause burns quite quickly, but will not be lethal in the short-term. Additionally, it seems like the magnifying glass never actually moves, meaning the focal point of the lens stays at a single spot and moves only as the Sun does. The Inferno Tower's range is literally a single point that moves too slowly to see.

Mega Minion: The armour that the Mega Minion wears is seemingly far too heavy to allow flight. It travels 1.5 tiles per second, or 4.05 kph. That's about brisk walking speed.

Lightning: The Lightning, functioning similarly to the Zap, kills 3 enemies right away. It doesn't actually strike whatever has the highest hit points, it strikes semi-randomly with a weight towards taller and more conductive targets.

PEKKA: A PEKKA is shown in a trailer chasing a butterfly at running speed for a long time. Why can't she do that in game? The PEKKA, in battles, is clearly not putting in much effort. She moves about 1.1 tiles in a second. That's 2.97 kph: Just under slow walking speed.

Lava Hound: The Lava Hound should fall into a bubbling pile on the ground right away. The fact that it doesn't suggests that the Lava Hound has some sort of internal frame and is controlled remotely. Inside the Lava Hound is six Lava Pups, which is crazy, as the Pups are demonstrably larger than the Hound, in total.

Miner: Oh boy, it's one of the most casually unscientific cards in the game. It, realistically, takes 24 freaking hours to dig a 4-tile long tunnel. Sending a Miner to behind the opponent's King tower takes, by extension, SEVEN AND A HALF DAYS. The Miner is spending an entire goddamn week digging nonstop, 24/7. The player has already finished the match, eaten two dozen meals, played a couple dozen other matches, and been to school/work at least 5 times. And have you noticed how the Miner pops right out the ground instantly? That's not gonna happen. Depending on how deep the Miner's going, he's spending another six hours, according to professional gravediggers, digging upward nonstop to pop back up. And possible another six hours after that building a big enough dirt mound to get out of the hole. And that's all assuming that he's deep enough under the ground not to damage the floor's structural integrity. In certain arenas, any less than two metres and the tunnel is going to collapse onto him. And the Miner even digs under the bridges? Does he know what's under the bridges? The Miner is flooding his entire tunnel with water halfway through. He spends over four days underwater. Not even SCUBA (Self-Contained Underwater Breathing Apparatus) gear is going to save this guy. Even if he brought a mask and oxygen tanks, he isn't prepared to spend four days in a water-filled hole. And, in-game, a visible dirt trail shows up on the bridge. He's destroying the bridge. The bridge isn't even in his way. He's spending another day or two smashing the bridge with his shovel, which most likely ends in the shovel breaking. Let's say he brought a backup shovel. That shovel is guaranteed to break as well. I haven't found any sources which calculate how long it takes to dig through steel, but I assure you, it's not a small number, and several shovels will be wasted. In conclusion, the Miner spends a week and a half underground destroying the arena's structural integrity, smashing the bridge, and drowning himself in river water.

Feel free to make corrections. I'm a little unsatisfied with the lack of hard numbers for some of the claims I made about the Miner, so if anyone feels like going out and smashing up some steel beams with a shovel, tell me how much time and how many shovels it took. Thanks. That's it for this post.

Any deck reccs for mid ladder? I’ve gotten a bit past 5k with this but I keep getting curb stomped by people with max cards. Are there decks I should be playing to alleviate the issue of under-leveled cards?

Rate my deck!! I’m thinking about adding Mega knight and wizard.hmmm maybe even sparky or balloon.

3 elixir to destroy any building, and more damage than a poison. Way too much value especially against siege decks. Make it make sense ...

I don't get any of you

    Posted: 10 Feb 2021 02:34 AM PST

I decided to push in ladder this month since i finally upgraded my cards but it's so boring. After 5.2k All i see is a deck made of Prince, Valkyrie, witch, wizard, megaknight, ebarbs, musketeer, gbarrel, Knight, minions, bomber, and of course hog rider.

THERE ARE MORE THAN 100 CARDS IN THE GAME!!! I don't get it at all. I came back to this game after quitting for a while, because of youtubers showcasing cool decks and I got my interest. But all i see is the same 10-20 cards OVER AND OVER AND OVER again. These cards are probably overpowered and I wouldn't care less if they got removed from the game.

Can someone explain? Does that happen higher too? Is this game all about no-braining the same cards over and over again?
