    TL;DR remove trophy gates

    Originally, trophy inflation stopped at 1000 trophies, and at the time very few people complained about ladder. If you were constantly facing people 3+ levels above you, it just meant you were way too high in trophies and just needed to drop a bit to get fair matches again.

    In 2017, however, after many arenas were added, there was no more space to fit more arenas in the 3000 trophies up to Legendary. So, Supercell decided to move Legendary Arena to 3800 trophies, and then increase the inflation threshold to 2000 trophies. This worked pretty well, as the trophy range where it was 1:1 before legendary remained about the same. They then added leagues, which reduced the total number of trophies that were deleted and gave more incentive to pushing ladder with large chests at the end of each season.

    All in all, there was nothing wrong with the trophy system up until the trophy road update in April 2019. In this update, they moved Legendary Arena to 4000, and leagues went from 4000-6400 up to 4000-7000. They also increased the trophy inflation threshold to somewhere around 5700 or so trophies, encouraging people to start playing ladder and collecting the new trophy road rewards.

    This created an awkward situation where many people stuck in Arenas were suddenly able to jump up to leagues in a matter of days, and many of them were not prepared. This created what is now commonly referred to as "Mid Ladder", the point which inflation stops and all the overleveled players that rode up to mid Masters via inflation were now stuck. At the same time, inflation carried lower level players who would get smacked back down by level 13s. At the same time, due to a waning supply of new players coming in, and most new players reaching leagues very quickly, low ladder began to get emptier.

    Supercell, knowing that the inability to find matches would cause people to quit a lot, reacted by adding bots to Arenas to fill the gap. Since bots were almost always a free win, this meant that a ton more trophies got pumped into the economy. Many people would get through arenas and into leagues while only at level 7 or 8, and then be stuck in leagues due to the trophy gate. They would be able to get close to 5000, but then would get crushed by people many levels higher than them. However, due to inflation, they would have to lose as many as 3-4 matches for every win, meaning that a lot of time was wasted to get back to an even playing field.

    This stayed for many updates, until last month, when Supercell completely removed trophy inflation above 1000. This essentially reverted the trophy gain system back to 2016 days, however they didn't change anything else. Many trophy road rewards that were balanced by the inflation were now locked away, making it much harder to get them, and overall leading to a drop in total rewards. Not only that, but those overleveled no-skill players no longer had the cushion to fall back onto, meaning they began to fall back down from losing to high skilled players.

    With this, the safe zone between 4000 and 5000 dissappeared entirely. Now, all of ladder above 4000 was mid-ladder. New players would now get through Spooky Town facing level 8 bots that rocket the river and then face a maxed ebarbs rage player that three crowned them in seconds before spamming the goblin spit emote. Lower leagues became a death pit for anyone who was originally trapped below 5000 by the relentlessness of mid-ladder.

    Those players were now completely stuck with nowhere to run. If they went up, they would be knocked back down by maxed players. If they went down, they would get blocked off by the impenetrable wall known as the trophy gate. The gate would stop all attempts at fleeing mid-ladder, meaning the only option for many was to abandon ladder altogether, instead playing only Clan wars, challenges, and party modes for the whole season.

    In the end, the removal of trophy inflation failed to solve its original goal, which was to solve the problem of mid-ladder being created due to a mix of high and low leveled players. While it might have fixed the problem of people reaching leagues too fast, it didn't consider the people who had been stuck there for months. For a sizeable amount of players, the original gamemode, the core of what Clash Royale originally was, and the mode many people had been playing for years, was now locked behind closed doors.

    One month after the change, many people jumped ship from ladder, instead playing other gamemodes or just quitting entirely. By now, Supercell has two major options. Re-add inflation, or keep it out. If it were to be re-added, we would go back to the days of mid ladder, and the days of people complaining about 8 vs 13 matchups. But what about the latter option? What if there was a way to fix the fundamental problems with the current ladder without reintroducing a source of more problems? Turns out there is, and it couldn't be simpler.

    The April 2019 update made two changes to the trophy system, with inflation being just one of them. The other, was trophy gates. Originally meant to allow players to experiment with new cards without fear of losing all their hard work, they are now the reason behind the war happening at 4000 nowadays. With one part of the update being removed, the other must also go with it.

    If trophy gates were to be removed, it would fix many of the problems with ladder now and before. It would put an end to the Great War of Challenger I, and would once again allow for players to fill up the arenas, finally eliminating a need for bots. It would once again add in a real sense of accomplishment to reaching a new arena, finally being to play with all the cool new cards. It may not be perfect, and nothing about ladder probably ever will be, but it's the best we can hope for that can be implemented in the near future.

    I have been paying for the pass royal. I haven't see any sincerity to our community from CR at all in this season, I won't buy it any more. I will keep playing but only keep my trophy at 4000 for easy 3-crown and chest, and that's it. Maybe quitting game is soon, since there is no fun from here at all.

    CR simply considers us as a group of people that can do financial shuffle and make easy money by lying in the couch. They don't listen to community, don't give any meaningful update. What's worse, they make the game more terrible.

    By last season, I liked the new clan war, since we get easy chest as long as clan is active. Personally, I don't hate CW2 at all. Apart from that CR dev only made WRONG decisions!

    Trophy deflation is the worst, it kills ladder. It makes the ladder meaningless for all players except those top 10k players. We can't push to historical high any more. We can't push the the ladder rewards we used to. My suggestion is either to restore to the inflated system, or give ladder rank for all players. Anyway, I don't think they will listen.

    They introduce deflation in the name of resolving overleveling issue, they made decision without brain at all and just make it worse!

    In Season 18, 4300 is average level 11, 4500 around average 12, 4700 is all 13. Since there is no new trophy generation now, season19 will be 4150 11, 4250 12 and 4350 all level 13? All level 8 and level 13 squeezed within 300 trophy range?

    They are just retarded by implementing this change without thinking what could happen next! This current situation is imaginable without using brain. They make decision with only ass.

    I'm feeling humiliated to pay even a cent to them for this game.

    I see a lot of posts of new ideas, I give my highest respect to all of you guys. Because I had ideas as well, but it takes time to make pictures, post and also believe you will think more about its viability when you post, sometimes I would kill the idea myself after re-think. You guys spent time and share to us, but I believe the incompetent CR team will not even give a glance to any of them!!

    Why do I believe it so? Because they couldn't even fix those tiny easy bugs in game, how do you expect more from them?!!

    I mean, holy crap. The subreddit is uber negative and the state of the game is a joke. Meta is spam a shit load of swarm cards or play defensively with bait/xbow, which is about as lame as it was several years ago.

    Clan Wars is terrible plus they spam $10+ packs in your face every 10 minutes.

    Lord, where has the fun gone.

    I know a few people have done these posts but I feel that the more people bring it to the attention of the devs, I am hoping that someone will sit up and maybe, just maybe think about implementing QUALITY changes to the game.

    I have been playing this game, albeit on and off due to life commitments, since 2016. I reached the old legendary league by 9 trophies and didn't play until reset. By then, legend trophies didn't matter but I was happy I made it. I felt a huge sense of reward (4k trophies seems so insignificant now). Then Clan Wars came along and I was excited to play that too. It got tedious but it was fun looking back on it. Optional participation, random cards for creative deck building, decent(ish) rewards. It was at least pleasant and clan chats were ripe with deck strategies and who should run what etc. This for me was the height of the game for me. I was starting to hit 6k consistently with different decks, I was beginning to max cards and feel competitive on ladder and other modes.

    Fast forward to now and the game is MILES away from where it was. Ladder is toxic (but we all know that) and incredibly stale and that I believe it down to poor card balancing. It is never fun playing 64858392 different hog cycle/balloon cycle/bait decks, every season. And I believe that the devs pander to that style because its their favourite way to play and evidence suggests it; log nerfs, Princess buff, barb barrel nerfs (whats wrong with it killing an equal level princess/dart gob?). And TVR has confirmed it every season, with is constantly dominated by these kind of decks. So why those decks aren't looked at without someone going, "you know what, maybe some of those cards need a tweek/balance/rework". Nah, let's just rework the witch for the 648585th time. To me, a healthy game is a game where there is a lot of variety. Of course, some decks will be better than others depending on current state, but when I run into the same copy/paste decks day in day out, I lose all desire to bother pushing because there is no fun to be had. And considering that (according to deckshoppro) there are BILLIONS of deck combinations, its a sad affair that only about 10 are seen consistently.

    Now ladder has monetary rewards and balance changes are quarterly, what is there for the casual player? The game has officially gone FULL P2W. With the incentive of making your money back for maxing cards out, the urge is there. But, us players will be stuck with the same meta for months on end. Fun. CW2 needs to be dropped, immediately. Just get rid of it. Or at least combine aspects of CW1 into it. But it doesn't matter now because its a dead space already and most of the player base are moving away from this BS.

    This had so much potential. I still play CoC to this day because the content they keep adding to it is brilliant fun and everything on it works, and there is plenty there for the casual player still. How you guys have flopped this game is nothing sort of a travesty.

    TLDR; GET YOUR ACT TOGETHER SC/CR or your game WILL be a ghost town.
