[Rant] Why tf did you have to remove 1v1 draft from the party mode

    Posted: 04 Oct 2019 12:35 PM PDT

I know I'm not the only one who really enjoyed 1v1 draft, tbh these last couple of days have been one of the most fun I've ever had on CR.

I was really excited when supercell finally added a casual game mode for people who don't necessarily like 2v2 or just want to have a casual 1v1 battle in general.

It really felt good to have an escape from the cancerous ladder and just not have to worry about the result of the battle too much.

If supercell would've capped this new triple elixir mode at tournament standard, I would've been fine with it, but now that it isn't, I'm constantly getting matched with players who have atleast 1 level or a lot of the times even 2 levels on me.

A tournament standard 1v1 mode should be a mainstay at all times.

[Unpopular Opinion] 2.9 isn't as high skill as everyone says it is

    Posted: 04 Oct 2019 06:20 AM PDT

Ik I'm going to get downvotes since this sub is an Xbow worship cult, but it seriously isn't as high skill as everyone says it is. I'm gonna say this right now before I start that the skill cap is high. The deck is hard to master, if you want to use it as your main, you're going to need to learn how to use it. Cycle decks as a whole are the only high skill decks, bridge spam and beatdown are just there for lower skill players to compete. Anyways, of the high skill decks(Miner Poison without a PEKKA, Hog 2.6, Xbow 2.9, and IceBow) 2.9 is the easiest. It is the easiest.

2.9 isn't even that hard to pick up and start using, and I've used the deck myself. First of all, there's pretty much one placement everyone uses, which is right at the bridge. If anyone dares try to defend you put a Tesla. The way to play around this is to put a tank or mini tank opposite lane and stall. But they can also just put troops there to kill it. And the Xbow will still have a lot of lifetime left after that.

Of all 3 high skill win cons(Miner, Hog, Xbow) Xbow is the ONLY one to actually require dedicated counters specifically for the xbow. If you play against xbow without a beatdown deck or at least 2 mini tanks you lose, whereas Hog and Miner have a ton more actual counters, and don't require a deck made entirely to counter them to win against them.

The only "hard counter" is golem, and don't forget at this point, unlike other decks, the Xbow user can just turtle to high heavens and stall the entire game. Even with the new change, an xbow player can just fireball the tower. When they defend, that log is hitting the tower, so they're getting even more chip damage every time they defend. I use a Miner Poison deck myself and that Log damage you get from defending really adds up after a while. Then they turtle and win. That's Xbow. If you have a high chance of winning, there you go, if not then just turtle the entire game, that's 2.9.

At least with IceBow, it's a bit more expensive and doesn't really have a tank killer so you need to utilize your cards better.

Xbow 2.9 is just boring to play against, too. Just turtle turtle turtle if you get a bad matchup. All the constant turtling nonsense from decks like LogBait and 2.9 is what made me switch to Miner Poison, and for the rest of the players it just makes it so boring.

They start passively, they feel you out, see what cards you have. Then once they see some cards they'll dump an xbow at the bridge. If you even dare try and counter they immediately put a Tesla right beside it. So basically the Xbow itself is untouchable unless you have a golem deck, but at that point they'll stop actually playing and just turtle the entire game instead, which will work in their favor since they also have fireball and log.

Xbow is the ONLY of the 3 high skill win cons to be impossible to eliminate with a positive trade. Miner and Hog can both be stopped every time by a tornado. For Miner, if you hold a troop over its path, it shows the white exclamation mark, which can tell you exactly where it'll pop up, giving you a 100% prediction rate(thanks OJ!)

Activating the king basically cuts Miner's damage in half, and allows for hog to be fully stopped with a well placed tornado every time, whereas there's no card like that for Xbow.

If you haven't mastered the 100% prediction technique for miner, you can just put an ice spirit at the back of the tower right as it comes to the tower. It'll jump onto the miner immediately, giving you a full second to place something else down to stop it.

There is no card that stops an xbow entirely, except maybe a golem or PEKKA, but PEKKA gets distracted and golem will just get melted by the Tesla.

Miner requires switching up placements and keeping your opponent on their toes.

Hog, while being placed in mostly the same place every single time, you need to be able to decide whether to chip or use it to kite defending troops if you have nothing else for the oncoming push, and you need to know how much to commit to a push.

Xbow is...putting it at the bridge? I mean that's really it. Even spell-bait, the deck where all you do is use a bunch of cards countered by the same exact thing so your opponent can never counter everything along with a building and 2 spells, is more complex than 2.9.

Even bait has hard matchups. Sure, so does 2.9, but they can just turtle to the high heavens. Two buildings basically lets it stall endlessly.

The ONLY thing that can stand a chance against 2.9 is Lavaloon or Golem but a good 2.9 player can shut that down with a well placed Tesla and archer+ice spirit fireball cycling, plus lavaloon isn't even used much.

2.9 in double elixir essentially boils down to spamming it whenever possible. This way, you force your opponent into negative trades by forcing them to spend more than 6 elixir on that goddamn Xbow.

If you can't get that last 1000 HP down, save it for defense, hurl a fireball whenever possible. At least hog and miner actually require you to go on the opponent's side of the arena. "But Miner goes straight to the tower!" But Miner also requires you to change up the placement and can be stopped entirely every single time if you know what you're doing.

And with 2.6 at least you need to be able to make it to the tower, and out cycle hard counters, same with Miner, whereas this isn't the case with Xbow.

Edit: Thank you anonymous Redditor, that was my first gold!

Edit 2: Apparently 2.9 can beat Lavaloon now. That just proves my point even further
