- I'm not sure if it's possible to push to 6K using an underleveled 2.6 Hog against these kinds of levels. Especially with Ice Golem not killing bats, skeletons and such. What do you guys think?

If you missed the recent announcement, you can watch our introduction video here and enjoy Rick and I dressed as mighty Barbarians (and me needing to stop skipping leg day). I wanted to take this occasion to address the current hot topic in the community: seasons and monthly content. After seeing many comments and questions at the start of Season 23, I figured that some open talk about our plans would be good. Let this be my trial by fire. The shift At the beginning of 2021, we decided to switch our focus from monthly content, like balance changes and seasons, to fully target the team's effort to provide better and more impactful quarterly updates. Why did we decide that? The first season, The Flood, was released in July 2019, with the introduction of Pass Royale. At the time, the idea was indeed to provide monthly content while continuing to work on updates. Which were: - September 2019: Party button, new tiebreakers rules, triple draft - November 2019: 5 minutes battles and 3x elixir rule - August 2020: Clan Wars II Even though September and November updates have been essential for the game's health, they were light on content. And the big update, Clan Wars II, took a lot of development time while not being the success we hoped. A change was needed. Why do we think it's the right call? The Magic Items was the first update after switching our focus, and it was a success that has significantly grown the player base. The content introduced obviously played an important part in that success, but the new organisation and focus allowed the team to deliver that content. For the game, the larger player base and the team, the change from monthly to quarterly IS a good thing. We can see it clearly every day. So, what does that mean for the seasons? Like most of you already noticed, we slowed down the release cadence of new arenas at the start of 2021 (the last one was Forbidden Palace in February). The current plan is to have fixed season themes for some in-game events (Logmas in December, Shocktober in October, Lunar Year, Birthday, etc.) and mainly using existing arenas. In total, we have released 16 new arenas since the introduction of seasons. Most of them have just been used once, and we want them to be showcased more as well as existing arenas in Trophy Road. P.E.K.K.A's Playground, for instance, was very much appreciated by players. It does NOT mean that you will never see a new arena. I can already tell you that some are in preparation, but they will be much less frequent than before. I hope that this relatively lengthy text provided you with a better insight into our work and mindset and that you appreciated the step towards openness. With quarterly balance changes, I included more and bolder suggestions. Sorry they aren't as easy to digest. I also wanted to point out improvements to some long-standing problems. My most important points are in bold italic (as a sort of tl;dr). Please read my full reasoning before discussing a particular idea! I love these discussions and nowadays I have them far less often than before, so I hope they are good this time! Here's a rundown of nerfs I considered but chose not to: Electro Giant, Heal Spirit, Miner, Mega Minion, Goblin Cage, Fisherman, Bomber, Fireball. Ask me in the comments. Addressing Rock-Paper-ScissorsWhat exactly am I addressing? Well, in Clash Royale, some cards counter others, and that's alright because decks negate this by having cards with different roles. No one stops you from making a deck with 8 Golem counters, but such a deck would perform poorly in most matchups. The problem is that some cards counter certain key strategies so much that their sole inclusion in a deck makes some matchups incredibly one-sided. This is what I define as Rock-Paper-Scissors. I think there are two main offenders right now: Earthquake Vs X-Bow and Mother Witch Vs Graveyard. It's especially bad with Earthquake, because as a spell, there exists no counterplay. On the other hand, Mother Witch can be countered, but she is overpowered. Earthquake changes:
Mother Witch changes and bugfixes:
Basic buffs/nerfsGiant Skeleton buff: Bomb damage +23% (444 > 545)
Elite Barbarians nerf: Range reduced to Melee Short
Firecracker buff: Internal changes to make her movement and shooting more predictable
Barbarian Barrel nerf: Slower deploy time 0.5sec > 1sec, Width increased 2.6 > 2.9
Bomb Tower buff: Lifetime increased 25sec > 30sec
Guards buff: Faster first attack (0.4s > 0.3s)
Bugfixes and tweaksLava Hound change: Sight Range increased 5.5 > 7.5 Symmetry tweak to 6 cards: Deployment flipped based on the lane they are played
Cannon buff: Faster initial attack 1sec > 0.6sec
Tornado nerf: Crown Tower damage reduced 35% > 30%

Clash Royale is in desperate need of more gold Posted: 03 Jun 2021 03:39 AM PDT With the recent additions of magic items, players are now upgrading their cards much faster than ever before. This is an awesome change, don't get me wrong, it's what pulled me back to the game after taking a long break months ago. Unfortunately now, I'm stuck staring at dozens of cards that are ready to upgrade with no gold to do it with. I feel like I've been stuck at king tower lvl 12 for ages now. And no, Im not gonna cough up $50 just to upgrade one card from lvl 12 to lvl13. The overlying issue with this dilemma is that there ARE many opportunities provided to earn gold. Battle pass rewards, clan wars, even just completing matches all give you gold. However, it's chump change and Supercell knows it. I feel like the best way to solve this issue is to do a big overhaul of the gold earnings system entirely. Perhaps gold earnings for matches could be scaled based on the arena you play in? This would not only help fix the gold progression issue, but it would also incentivize players to climb and play more often. Please Supercell, you have made great strides forward with the addition of magic items, now its time to accommodate this change of progression with some tweaks to gold earnings.
