    Dear Clashers,

    the time has come: after 5 years of daily Clash Royale I will finally quit the game. I have been there from day 1 until now.

    The reason is simple: The grind you need to invest into the game is just too high.

    The fact that you need years (or at least one) or pay real money to max out a deck is just insane.

    You all know it: You're always against a maxed opponent, no matter how low level your deck is. This is what happens, if you try to have fun in the game and try out a new deck you found.

    You get punished for trying new things.

    This is not how it is supposed to be.

    I will switch to similar games where one can play all cards before investing a lot of money or time into leveling them, just to have the glimpse of a chance in a match.

    After all, Clash Royale is supposed to be a game, not a money machine.

    This is what most developers forgot nowadays. It is very sad.

    [IDEA] Clash Royale Sandbox Mode

    Have you ever wanted to practice a certain interaction but is unable to because you have no friends? I know how to feels to have lose a game because of one small mistake. So, i have come up with an idea to fix this issue!

    This new mode would allow any player to place down however many troops in the arena and press a play button to animate them. There should be two modes to choose from, defend mode and sandbox mode.

    Defend Mode: There will be a card rotation selector where you can decide your own card rotation when you press play. Save and share function would also be a great idea as you can create these 'Puzzles' of certain pushes to defend and challenge your friends to beat them.

    Sandbox mode: Both of sides will have no card rotation. This mode is mainly just for fun as you can create those crazy battle healer battles at the bridge or those 100 Mega Knight vs 100 P.E.K.K.A videos that would get in somebody's recommended on youtube.

    In conclusion, this is a simple yet fun idea to further expand on Clash Royale's potential. Think about the new interaction that people could come up with! Thank you for reading.

    Disclaimer: I did NOT analyze ladder matchmaking, I analyzed how many trophies were won and lost by each player after the match.

    TLDR:

    • The trophies you win is based off the difference in starting trophies and some rng.
    • This graph summarizes the trophy difference and the percentage that you win a certain amount of trophies

    Intro:

    I have been playing CR for almost 4 years and have had many cases of losing 33 trophies after a battle and tilting. So I had to ask the question "What is the algorithm that tells the game how many trophies to take away and give to the opponent?" In this post I will detail the findings of an investigation into 30455 battles and give my explanation to what determines how many trophies you win and lose.

    How this investigation was done:

    For this investigation, I used top players from various regions around the globe. All battles were over 6k trophies (most were over 6.5k) so the amount of trophies won is equal to the amount lost.

    I sampled 1850 players from various regions around the globe and got all the ladder battles off their battle log. Then I calculated the difference in starting trophies between the player I was looking at and their opponent. I then calculated a value I called "Trophy Exchange" from the "trophyChange" value in the CR api. I defined trophy exchange to be |30 - trophyChange|.

    To better explain this, I'll show with an example. If player A starts the match with 6500 trophies and player B enters with 6530 and player A wins 33 trophies, the Trophy exchange value would be |30-33| which would go in as 3.

    I tracked the difference in starting trophies and the trophy exchange in the Raw Data sheet in this spreadsheet. For every difference between 0 and 60 trophies, I tracked the trophy exchange for each battle. I then the calculated the percentage, given a specific starting trophy difference, that a player will win a certain amount of trophies. This led me to this graph.

    Conclusion:

    There are 2 major conclusions we can draw from this analysis:

    1. If two players start at the same trophies, the winner will receive 30 trophies and the loser will lose 30.
    2. For every 12 trophies of difference between the players starting trophies, we see that there is a 50% chance to receive 1+ difference /12 (rounded down) and a 50% chance to receive difference//12 trophies

    Based on the graph, it is clear that there is some slight rng involved in matchmaking. We can also infer the algorithm that SC used to determine how many trophies you win and lose for battles over 6k trophies

    From this data, we can hypothesize the trophies won algorithm. For example, if 2 players A and B enter a match, the algorithm will take in both Player A and Player B's trophies. It calculates the difference between trophies, divides it by 12 and rounds it down. I will call that number C. The player with less starting trophies is the "underdog". There are 2 possible outcomes here, assuming A is the underdog.

    1. A wins: The trophies A wins is 30 + C with a 50% chance A wins 31 + C
    2. B wins: B wins 30-C trophies, with a 50% chance to win 31 -C trophies.

    The trophies lost is equal to the trophies the opponent won (if the battle happened over 6k trophies).

    Further investigations:

    This analysis only focused on battles that happened over 6000 trophies. I believe the algorithm for calculating trophies won holds for all trophy ranges but that question has not been fully investigated yet.

    Emote decks

    There are more emotes than cards, yet we don't have the option to organize emote decks. It'd be nice to have all my pekka emotes active on my pekka deck, and all my goblin emotes on my log bait deck. Just something to make me enjoy the game a bit more despite its current state.

    Balloon needs a significant nerf

    Survives rocket, no idea why

    Has death damage, again no idea why

    Becomes a disgusting joke under the effects of rage. If you don't have a building, you will take massive damage on your tower.

    Even when you counter it properly, chances are the death damage will still reach your tower.

    If I go in ladder I need to be ready for 6 matches in a row of skeleton battle/ goblin barrel, and since it's impossible to level cards I'm forced to play one deck that's terrible against the bait archetype. It's absolutely game ruining and if anything makes me quit after five years it will be this extremely unfun decks to play against.

    I know it's been brought up before and the game has more glaring issues... but id really appreciate a quality of life change that permitted 10 deck slots instead of 5. Would be nice to say have your top 5 for ladder and bottom 5 for 2v2 decks etc.

    Xbow Playstyle

    Recently, Xbow got a nerf that in my opinion was needed. While I don't think that Xbow needs to be changed anymore, (maybe tesla is a different question), I think there is still a huge problem in the playstyle of some Xbow players. For example, in this match, my opponent was willing to knock my tower down to 1200 hp before deciding to play nothing but defensive teslas and Xbows. Going "good game" as they finally finished rocket cycling my tower. This playstyle just meant I had to wait out a match that nearly went into a tie breaker being unable to do anything but defend. This sort of playstyle should not exist in the game as it does not give any fun to the opponent.

    You want solutions, right? You shall find the various steps to be followed below to solve the problems for starters.

    1.) Limit the level of the Cards in the Decks to the existing King level while playing on the ladder!!! This is a must to be done to arrest the most relevant issues related the ladder progression. This should be the first step taken immediately.

    2.) Bring back the good old daily quests which was encouraging everyone to complete them giving them the relevant effective prizes. This is an immediate action which needs to implemented.

    3.) Have a weekly feedback session with the community using the existing relevant social media platforms including predominantly Reddit, Twitter and etc. This is because communication is first thing which is missing and caused a mess and mass Demolition of the game over the past year and more.

    4.) Introducing promotion and demotion to "ladders levels" based on a justified set of criteria on a weekly basis. Weekly basis would be relevant so that players don't get bored stuck in a particular ladder level for longer periods of time.

    5.) Country based local Clan Tournaments every month bringing the Spotlight and equal opportunities and deserving Grand Prizes to talented non-sponsored Clans globally. Then next having a Quarterly Global Clan Tournament with deserving Grand Prizes.

    This will be like giving back to the Clash Royale community for their contribution of the growth of the game.

    This will remarket the Game on a Global scale and bring back some of the lost goodwill to the Game, which has been demolished by the pathetic decisions taken at the Dev and Management level over the past year and more.

    Note: Pros and Professional Teams are not to be included in these Tournaments, since there are existing Professional tournaments for the Pros/Professional Teams. This though can be subjected to debate with the community.

    I shall try add more ideas to this.

    Something super stupid happened. I unlocked all the season pass chests way before the season ended but had to wait for them because I did not buy the paid pass. Earlier today I got to open one and after I finished opening it it said 0 minutes/seconds before new chest or something like that. I clicked to view the pass and it showed all of them were claimed but I was far from done opening them all. Did this happen to anyone else? Did everyone without this glitch even get all of their chests yet? And is there any way to fix this?

    How do i beat spellbait? I am around 4k trophies

    Hi returning player here i am running a meme ebarb rg deck, but even other times im playing the game i have trouble aginst this one architype. It feels hard to play it correctly since i dont know which cards to use my spell on. Do I have to save elixar before i can use my spell to rotate quickly? Sorry if I sound like a noob since 4k trophies is a complete joke.

    Clan losing members faster than before

    I'm a co of a clan that used to run between 48 and 50 members. However, we've been losing member faster than anytime I recall. Most discouraging is that we have been losing some players that have been with us for 2 years or longer. CR has made some bad changes recently but many of these have been somewhat corrected. I feel that congestion in the 5000 + trophy area has made progression too hard. Most everyone in the clan reaches close to their pb each season but none are moving up. Changes are needed or our clan will continue to shrink. Ideas?
