    [Effort post] Why CW2 still is worse than CW1 despite the upgrade

    I am in a friend / family clan that used to be in legendary league before CW2.

    Not all players are regulars, but in CW1 it didn't matter, we were matched with clans that had the same participation size.

    With CW2 we were matched against full sized clans with high participation, forcing us to either get 5th place or force players to play more regularly than they wanted to, boring them out of the game and ultimately forcing us to kick our own friends/family if we wanted to have a fighting chance in the war. At least we managed to force players to play for the first day or two, and with that huge push we managed to finish the war in those 1 or 2 days, letting those unregular players rest for the rest of the week.

    With CW2.5, it's actually even worse:

    • The first 3 days seem like a weird gimmick that doesn't make much sense. Maybe SC was looking to replicate CW1, or give 3 days off of war for everyone, or give time to place defenses (for which other solutions were possible, such as the cooldown previously in place). The end result is that it doesn't fit in the war gameplay. The official excuse, giving time to practice decks, makes no sense : a normal player does not have the luxury to change decks, they obviously will play their same highest cards every time, due to how matchmaking is set - it doesn't depend on your card level.
    • Contrary to CW2, we now can't push in 1 day or 2, it is capped at 3000 points every day, forcing us to keep taunting unregular players into playing more than they're comfortable with. Forcing clan leaders to have to taunt other members every day makes it unenjoyable both for leaders and clan members, and ends up disgusting everyone of the game.

    Key takeaways:

    • Please don't force players to leave small clans
    • Please don't force players to kick family/friends out of the clan, just because they aren't as active as others.
    • Stop thinking that, in time, clan trophies will settle themselves so that matchmaking becomes even. We were at legendary league, now we're struggling at 2000 clan trophies, and even so we're forced to nudge every day unregular players into playing, disgusting everyone. It would take us YEARS (just do the math, at least 6 months if we keep getting #1, which is impossible) to get back to legendary league, which we were with CW1.

    Proposed solution (not the only one, feel free to propose your own):

    • Clans need to be matched based on their size activity. Bring back a mechanism similar to the one that was in place with CW1. For example, make use of those first 3 days (so far, they don't have any) to determine clan activity, and only those that played in the first 3 days would get a ticket for the war. Then match clans based on the number of those active players, to give clans with unregular players a fighting chance.
