It has already passed 5 years since I installed this game and it makes you think how much you take things for granted. I mean 5 years of enjoyment for free! Not a lot of places you can get that and I know the game has seen better days but I remain hopeful that things will change.

How to play like a noob - Short satiric guide

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 12:58 PM PST

    • Slowplaying: Cannot play multiple cards in quick succession. Just comfortably and slowly play with one hand, while you stand and hold the device in the other hand, doing it all with your weak and shaky hands and bad reflexes.
    • Wild spam: Spam the same lane with troops disregarding any strategy. You have the chsance to win just with force.
    • No gameplan: Have no idea how to interact with the opponent's deck, how to play in 2-3x elixir or when a tower is down.
    • Be annoying/ play with minimal effort: Use spawners, Fire Spirits or multiple swarm units together.
    • Overcommitment: Must put a melee unit in front of the Wizard, regardless of counterplay. Putting multiple vulnerable units beside eachother is always worth it.
    • Money is power: Hoard all your elixir. Having more elixir must be a good way to get an advantage over your opponent, regarless of what you do with it.
    • Forget/fail to spend resources: Why spend elixir? Just forget staying at 10 elixir for 10sec. Eventually your opponent puts down something to be countered.
    • Chasing a power fantasy: There must be a single way to win with a deck and it is your favirit one. You never needed to punish your opponent anyway.
    • Cannot build a deck with synergy: Oh card roles? What are they? What is even a balanced deck? Just commit to a playstyle with your favorit cards.
    • Tunnel vision/ favoritism: Even having the right cards in your hand doesn't matter. Being in bound with your favorit cards is acceptable. Using those when available is a much more relyable way to play, than to keep track of all 4 cards in your hand.

This list is not ment to be too specific to Clash Royale, the basic rules apply to other games with real time strategy as well. If you don't understand the importance of any of these, than you are doing it right.

    State of this sub

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 07:18 AM PST

This sub isn't active like its used to be, before it was full of posts every couple of minutes and the quality of the posts were great, but as you can see from now the number of posts are very low compared to the past and its all about rate my deck or see how I won this match, and its not because we've been toxic because other social media communities like twitter and YouTube are also at downhill. Its clear that the state of the game is the reason, and its so sad to see a great game like clash royale ruined because some bad short sighted decisions. I don't blame the community for being toxic, this toxic reaction didn't rose from nothing.

    Clan Wars 3

    Posted: 18 Feb 2021 06:25 PM PST

Why don't we have a war map?

There have been many opinions for a few months, but I want to give my opinion.

Participation: Firstly, let's remove the obligation to participate. When someone plays any war match of any kind, then that player will be opt-in. OR clan leader can have an opt-in button for all clanmates. or both. All choices are very reasonable.

Clan selection: How will clans be paired with each other? How it was once done in CW1. based on participation and clan level. As well as the time zone from CW2. So it's a mixture.

Cards for matches: These cards that you battle with will have their default "unlocked levels," but if a card gets to a certain level that the player themselves do not have leveled, they will not be able to play that card at their clan's card level, only up to as high as they personally have it.

Matches: Will be selected based on player level and clan level. Winners of matches will receive victory gold and clan war currency to spend later on. Each player will have a screen where they choose all eight of their cards before every battle. Each player would only have 1-4 battles per day, with a few players receiving extra battles per day. This map will be small; it could be that each clan will acquire more spaces and "sweep" in one night, leaving other clans to wake up to a completely shifted map, which is why I'm proposing 1 battle per player per day. With a max of 50 players per clan per day. However, you will understand why I'm also counteracting with a possibility of 1-4 battles per player per day through reading this.

War Map: This war map can consist of 5 clans (or 4) that will start in a war map where the objective is to acquire as much land as possible, while other clans are doing the same in a specified time frame. Each clan will only have access to the bottom 25-40% of the least used cards in the game, all being at their respective unlocked card levels (commons at 1, rares at 3, etc.). And over time, they can acquire more cards for them to upgrade as well as other cards for them to unlock for war battles. No clan can attack another clan's home base. This would encourage clans to be wiped out overnight.

Tiles: When clanmate battles for a tile, if they win, then that tile will be unlocked to their clan. Tiles can only be acquired if there is a tile next to the one you wish to capture. If there is a stream of tiles branched off, and an opposing team captures a tile revoking your clan, the remaining tiles become dead as if there was no clan captured at all. This will be hard to keep track of, so we can add a zoom-in feature if need be, but IDK.

Defense: A clanmate can tap on their respective clan base and choose to collect more cards. Not how we currently repair a ship in clan wars, but how we used to have preparation days in CW1. each player can use their battles to win more war cards. Wins will give more cards than loses as well as gold. However, no new cards can be unlocked here. Only cards that have been pre-unlocked or new cards that have been unlocked throughout the war.

Defense pt.2: Any clanmate can tap on an already claimed tile on the war map to "reinforce it." This will make other clans need to attack multiple times to acquire that particular tile. When a clanmate acquires a second reinforcement, the tile can become more of its respective clan's solid color. This defense can be capped at 5 times. (I'm thinking blue, orange, purple, white for the tile's colors; based on the card types in the game.)

Encourage offense: Who's to say that a clan wouldn't upgrade their cards all week or few days and try and sweep all the land in one night? The offense will be encouraged through obviously the reinforcements but continually through outposts. You can only interact with outposts if you have a connecting clan tile. An outpost is how a clan can unlock more cards that are within the rest of the game. Say one outpost in the middle of the field that doesn't play favorites, and any clan can receive new cards from winning a match through the outpost. Or multiple outposts that each clan can take control of. Or, any clan can control this outpost, start unlocking new cards and abort to receive troops. even after an enemy clan performs a takeover. (so you still can do that grind thing all week, but why would you? Other clans you go against are going to have better cards. but whatever.)

Cooldown: Again, to prevent massive shifts in the clan map, after a clan mate plays a match, a certain amount of time will be set to prevent massive shifts in the map all at once. Perhaps, 5-7.5 minutes; after a 5 minute, at the most, match, this would equal 12.5 minutes of wait time for the next member, which would only be about 10 hours of the day. But through playtesting, we might not need this at all.

Clan War Currency: Halfway through the war, a pop-up can occur for what the clan can spend their currency, such as unlock cards and such. Highest use rate, highest win rate, tower abilities????? Or a skip button for this pop-up to occur later. This would function off of a clan vote. Each member will decide whether they personally want a specific card that appears or if they would like to wait for better choices later on. Yes, over time, these will become more powerful and useful and cost more currency.

Rewards: each clan will receive gold, cards, clan trophies, GC tickets??? I think this would be a perfect way to implement tower abilities. These seem to be on the rise in topics I've read on here.

Tower Abilities: This would add a new way to grind the game. Let's say that only first place gets a tower ability. Let's say that they start at level 9, and that's the tournament level to satisfy the pros for when they compete. Over time players will receive random tower abilities (that cannot be traded) and require multiple of them and a good amount of gold to upgrade. Let's say there are four clans in each war. Hypothetically you should win 1 in 4 times. That's 4 weeks of something to grind. Suppose it takes 37 to max that ability (based on legendary upgrades), then that's (37*4*however many abilities there will be.) Just from one, that's 148 weeks (2.8 years) worth of gameplay, for one... We can have like 5 to start, lol. this doesn't even account for us possibly making more. after 4000 trophies, you should start being able to unlock tower abilities through war. (So that there is a nice transition from unlocking cards to unlocking towers so that we don't overwhelm new players to this game.) We need to stop with SC creating something then literally everyone has it. We need to grind. We need to work for it. There's no satisfaction in this game anymore. We need a reason to put lots of thought into this game. Before you guys comment and say that we should have challenges for these abilities, we really shouldn't; why would anyone play when the top players in the world would grind for 1st place in these "tournament-style challenges" have a maxed ability in 1 month. Now the game needs emergency nerfs and just a plethora of calamities. It would be better if these unlockable items were from timed interval events than just playing as much as you can as quickly as you can.

What would happen to tower levels now? We can convert to; now, players can only have cards up to this level, which would encourage more variety of the game when you really think about it. And all players that are above this threshold would receive an automatic refund of gold and cards. I don't know if this is a great idea, but it's all I could think of. Obviously, SC can pick and choose what they want from this, but IDK.

Conclusion: Have you seen the movie Moneyball? "This is a process. It's a process; it's a process." This will not be done overnight and most definitely not done in one month. We have over 1.8 million active players playing this game, and we all are ready for something great; we've been playing for so long that we are ready to love this game more than when we first got it. When I go to the CR Wikipedia, and I don't see it's been kept up to date, that's not good. This game is not dead, but it is dying. Let's do our part for the dev team. I think I can recall that there are only 5 developers on this team. This I the first game to have as much constant buzz, and it is the only one that is also a mobile game. I'm sure everything will be fine but here are my thoughts. Please comment if you have better ideas; I'm very curious.
