    The Strength and Viability of Magic Archer in the Current Meta

    "Not quite a Wizard, nor an Archer - he shoots a magic arrow that passes through and damages all enemies in its path. It's not a trick, it's magic!"

    Being associated with the Forest Gang, he ensures that every heist is successful with his Magic Arrows and masterful archery skills. Wise and precise, nothing can get past him. The intention of this post is to create centralized discussion regarding the current state of Magic Archer, whether he needs to be changed, and the current best decks/synergies with it.

    • The Magic Archer card was added to the game on 2/3/18.
    • On 25/4/18, a Balance Update increased the Magic Archer's projectile speed, making him less likely to miss faster moving troops.
    • On 5/11/18, a Balance Update made the Magic Archer's first attack much slower (0.4 secs to 0.9 secs).
    • On 7/1/19, a Balance Update made the Magic Archer's first attack faster (0.9 secs to 0.6 secs).
    • On 5/8/19, the August 2019 Update increased the Magic Archer's damage by 16% but decreased his hitspeed by 0.1 sec (from 1.0 secs to 1.1 secs).
    • On 7/4/20, the Balance Update decreased the Magic Archer's targeting range to 6 (from 7).

    In addition to these questions it is suggested that you fill out this poll whether Magic Archer is best as a Niche or a Popular card in the Meta.

    Magic Archer is a controversial card and has struggled to find a definitive spot in the meta ever since his debut into the arena. When he was popular in the meta he was widely perceived as being too strong. However, when he was a viable niche option, the majority of the playerbase agreed that he needed a buff.

    Unfortunately with his past nerf, he is declared to be dead. The community has stated that the nerf has severely impeded much of the utility he provided (building sniping, defending from the opposite lane) while ruining his identity as one of the longest-ranged units in the game. While some players enjoy the nerf, the majority have stated that the nerf was too harsh and was not the correct course of action. Ideally this poll is a good starting point to generate discussion where Magic Archer is best fit in the meta, and what the ideal changes are to put him into a healthy spot for good.

    This is probably one of the more scuffed ideas in this sub but it's been rolling around in my head for a while so I decided to post. It is so scuffed that it could be considered a shit post. Supercell will never add this but it's a fun idea nevertheless.

    Basically there would be certain available cards each one actually representing an upgraded version of the original. No art would be changed.

    Note this game mode is supposed to be completely broken so please don't disregard it based on how unbalanced it is

    Players would receive an entirely random deck with possible overlap. It order to make the game last longer than fifteen seconds tower health would have to be multiplied by ten. Every card listed would receive a significant in game buff that either relates to their ability, is in the spirit of the card, or is an upgrade on a part of the card transforming the units from one unit to another without changing the elixir cost.

    Let's go from top to bottom

    Minions- 3 mega minions

    Archers- 2 princesses or 2 firecrackers

    Knight- mega knight

    Spear goblins- 3 dart goblins

    Goblins- 3 goblin brawlers

    Bomber- uses balloon bombs instead of normal ones

    Skeletons- 3 guards, 3 wall breakers, or 3 normal bombers

    Barbarians- 5 e-barbs

    Minion horde- 6 mega minions

    Bats - 5 minions

    Fire spirits - launch a fireball at each impact.

    Skeleton barrel - replaces skeletons with guards, wall breakers, or bombers

    Royal recruits- 6 royal deliveries or 6 dark princes

    Ice spirit- activates full freeze spell on impact

    Rascals- Replace rascal boy with giant or elixir golem and rascal girls with firecrackers

    Goblin gang- 3 goblin brawlers and two dart goblins

    Musketeer- 3musketeers

    Giant-royal giant or golem

    Battle ram-replace barbs with e-barbs

    Royal hogs- 4 hog riders

    Heal spirit-battle healer

    Ideas to improve TV Royale

    I saw a post earlier about the idea of creating league separations for TV royale games in Legendary arena, and I liked the idea but I think TV royale needs a complete overhaul. That solution also wouldn't account for season resets where not enough players are in higher leagues. It would also make it harder to see top 200 games and it leaves out some important features I think should be in TV royale.

    I believe it would be a huge improvement if TV royale showcased these 4 main categories:

    • Grand challenge 12-win battles - It would be nice to see what decks people are using to win GCs and it would provide some skilled gameplay.
    • Arenas 1-12 - Considering not many people watch lower-level gameplay and there aren't a lot of active players below legendary arena, I think it should be grouped into one big category.
    • Legendary arena (below top 200) - TV royale replays in legendary arena that don't have ranked players get views, but a lot less than battles between top 200 players. A lot of people only want to watch the very best players. These replays can still be interesting to watch though, so I think it should get its own category.
    • Top 200 - Games between top 200 players are by far the most watched replays in TV royale. This category should be a must-have.

    Although they probably wouldn't get watched often, some other ideas for categories could be:

    • 2v2
    • Classic challenges
    • War battles

    It might also be interesting for there to be TV royale categories for special challenges that are happening at the time so people can find good decks for these challenges.

    Another feature that might be cool would be spectating live matches on TV royale. The only problems that I could see with this is potential lag for the players and it might encourage sniping other players on top ladder (sniping is where you enter the queue with a counter-deck against someone for easy trophies - essentially rigging the matchmaking for yourself).
